PLACING AMERICAN CHILDREN AT RISK

”AT THE STAKEHOLDERS’ MEETING HELD PRIOR TO INC4, AS I SAT TO HIS RIGHT, DR. THOMPSON ACCEPTED THE THANKS OF INDUSTRY FOR PROTECTING THE PLACE OF THIMEROSAL IN VACCINES, DISREGARDING THE FACT THAT THIS POSITION AGAIN IS PLACING AMERICAN CHILDREN AT RISK.”

In a letter to former US secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton about the US position on mercury in drugs, rev. Lisa K. Sykes also inclosed a copy of her own book “Sacred Spark”.

Reverend Lisa K. Sykes is the president of Coalition of Mercuryfree Drugs (CoMeD).

The letter from CoMeD to the former US state secretary was sent on August 17, 2012.

“In my on-going efforts to inform various heads of state about the dangers of mercury in medicine, I have given my book, “Sacred Spark”, to world leaders involved in the INC. Because those leaders have received my book with appreciation, I am also sending you a copy”.

“I have previously provided your Office of Environmental Policy, and specifically Dr. John E. Thompson, with this book and additional information demonstrating the extreme toxicity of Thimerosal, as well as materials documenting the egregious conflicts of interest that currently characterize the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on the issue of Thimerosal.
Nonetheless, at UNEP’s INC3 in Nairobi, Dr. Thompson stated that the State Department was obligated to defer to the DHHS on the issue of Thimerosal, despite the fact that its position places our children at risk of learning disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders and malignancies from avoidable mercury exposures through medicine.
At the stakeholders’ meeting held prior to INC4, as I sat to his right, Dr. Thompson accepted the thanks of industry for protecting the place of Thimerosal in vaccines, disregarding the fact that this position again is placing American children at risk.
At INC4, our US State Department delegation voiced its support for a ban of mercury from cosmetics while quietly opposing the removal of mercury from vaccines injected into pregnant women and newborn children.

“Before the State Department continues its entangling alliance with DHHS on this issue and its misguided defense of Thimerosal, I want you, as the head of the State Department, as a leader of our nation, and as a United Methodist, to know that ‘Thimerosal preserved’ vaccines are dangerous to children.”
The last place on earth that mercury belongs is in our children, and the last thing my nation should be doing is attesting to the safety of Thimerosal in vaccines for developing nations while we are slowly removing it from our own early childhood vaccines supply.”
