RT.COM: Russia puts forward draft UN resolution against chemical weapons in Iraq & Syria

RT.COM: Russia has once again proposed that the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution aimed at preventing chemical weapons from falling into hands of terrorists in Syria and Iraq, Vladimir Safronkov, Deputy Permanent Representative of Russia to the UN, said. The document, drawn up along with China, was released during a Security Council meeting in Mosul, Iraq, on Friday. “Together with China, we have released the same draft document we did last year in order to unite the Security Council and make joint efforts against chemical weapons being used by terrorists and private actors,” Safronkov said. The document emerged for the first time in 2016, however, it failed to gain enough support among western members of the Security Council.
