QUOTE: Here is the story of how the EU and the Danish government funded a monitoring technology, which has since been acquired by a company with close ties to the United Arab Emirates, report Danish daily Information

March 6, 2017
One day by the end of 2015 the employees at the minor it company D4tec in Northern Jutland were told a piece of news that caused a stir. The company’s CEO Karl Therkildsen, an elderly Jutlandic businessman communicated the message himself to the employees at the offices in NOVI Businesspark in Aalborg:
The company had entered a collaboration with an it-company in Århus owned by a person in the United Arab Emirates. Liace, as the company was named, became an investor in D4tec and at the same time ensured the rights to the product, a software, that can monitor great amounts of data among other things from the social media.
For the litte start-up company D4tec, that had been running with losses for several years and without having yet any real customers it was an exciting business opportunity. But not all employees were equally enthusiastic.
”Actually I got a bit chocked”, remember System Developer Martin Sand Christensen. END OF QUOTE
