June 2016: 7 employees at National Danish Police charged with receiving bribes

National Danish Police is the public authority with the highest number of employees charged in great bribery case

On June 21 2016, 27 IT people had their homes searched and were charged with receiving bribes. 7 of these persons were employed by the National Danish Police.
Thus the police was topping the list, as the workplace, where the highest number of employees were suspected of having received bribes by IT company Atea.
Also five employees at the Danish Defence were charged with receiving bribes.
The search in June last year was carried out by Serious Fraud Office in a great action that took place on several locations in the country.
One month later, on July 20, 2016 a Danish daily reported, that 2 police chiefs had been sacked from the police. Both were charged.
Before being sacked the 2 police chiefs had run a career partnership for several years during various employments. Details concerning this partnership were not revealed.
Concerning the Atea-bribery case both sacked chiefs had received unjustified trips to Dubai.
The story was reported in various Danish media.
