The processing of the extradition case against the 20-year-old woman, Chung Yoo-ra, can now begin. This is the situation after the Director of Public Prosecutions received an extradition warrant from the South Korean Ministry of Justice by email.

Sunday evening, North Jutland Police arrested Chung Yoo-ra, who was being searched for by Interpol. Now, The Danish Director of Public Prosecutions confirm they have received the extradition warrant from the South Korean Authorities.

Deputy Director Mohammad Ahsan from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions says:

»We have now received the extradition warrant. It contains quite a lot of pages, which we are now studying thoroughly. When we are finished, we can decide whether Chung Yoo-ra can be extradited to South Korea.«

In order for Chung Yoo-ra to be extradited, all conditions of the Danish Extradition Act must be met. The Director of Public Prosecutions continues to believe that a decision will be taken within a few weeks:

»But exactly how long the case processing will take depends, among other things, on how complicated the legal conditions of the extradition warrant are,« says Deputy Director Mohammad Ahsan.

The courts have remanded Chung Yoo-ra until 30 January. Mohammad Ahsan says if the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions cannot make a decision before then, it would be natural to request the court to extend the remand:

»It may be that we will be able to reach a decision in the case before 30 January, but, of course, it would be natural to request an extension of the remand if this is not the case.«
